It’s like those old-school ➤ text adventures. But it’s smarter. You can create entire ➤ AI Fantasy worlds, characters, and ➤ stories. And the best part? You don’t need to know how to code. You just need your words and ideas. You turn these into prompts, but more about that in a minute.
An AI text game is not just about playing. It’s also about creating an immersive experience. Here, the narrative adapts to your input. Think of it as a digital ➤ storytelling tool. You are both the reader and the writer.
AI has the ability to understand and generate text. These games can make for very personalized and dynamic adventures. And you get to explore all kinds of locations. From haunted castles and interstellar journeys to ancient forests. The AI makes scenarios that are unique to your game.

So, how do you start? First, you need a prompt. The prompt is like fuel for the AI. It’ll create an AI text game based on the prompt. I’ll give you one of my prompts now. You can create your own games based on it. Or you can just copy and use it right away. You’re also welcome to edit it as you wish.
Create an interactive text game where I am the protagonist.
The game should be set in a fantasy world where I embark on a quest to find a lost artifact. Include detailed descriptions of the environment, characters, and items I encounter.
Provide me with three choices at the end of each step and respond dynamically to my inputs. Include the free text option, but don't mention it as a next possible step.
If I drift too far away from the topic of the quest, answer all my questions, but kindly remind me that we have more important things to do.
Start the game with me waking up in a mysterious village with no memory of how I got there, and guide me through a series of challenges, puzzles, and battles as I uncover the story behind the artifact. The final goal is finding the artifact and saving the village.
Don’t allow “God mode”. Don’t allow time traveling.
Make the game extremely difficult for me and include a high possibility of death. Keep track of any injuries and tailor the game accordingly. For example, if a character breaks a leg, make it impossible to do tasks that require completely healthy legs. If the player dies, the game stops.
Let’s look at my prompt. So, first, figure out what you want. Where is the ➤ game happening? And it can be just anywhere. This will set the scene for your AI text game. It could be something like, “You wake up in a dark forest.” Want a sci-fi setting? Describe your spaceship. A fantasy world? Write about dragons and castles.
The initial prompt is key. It helps the AI generate engaging content. For example, let’s take the following prompt. “You find yourself in a decrepit spaceship, the walls covered in strange, pulsating flora.” This immediately immerses you in a specific setting. It also suggests a possibly dangerous scenario.
Your AI text game needs rules. How does the player win? What do you need to do? And what can’t you do? How difficult is the game? You can ask GPT to create these. Or you can use your own ideas.
As you see, my prompt has a few rules. Still, you have to set some. Otherwise, your game will just be a ➤ story. Which is totally fine, too.

Describe their looks, their quirks, and goals. In my AI text game prompt, I didn’t create specific characters.
For me, it feels more personal. Still, sometimes, we all want to be knights. So, you can use something like “Airlin Stonehand, a brave knight with a dark past.” After that, add any physical traits you want.
Think about their motivations and backstories. For example, “Airlin Stonehand, the brave knight, has a dark past and a hidden agenda that he reveals only to those he trusts.”
This adds layers to the character. It makes interactions more interesting and complex.
Also, test the GPT. Have ➤ conversations with your character. Ask about the past, motivations, and opinions. On one hand, you’ll see if GPT follows your input well. On the other, you’ll get some additional details about your character. Do this for every aspect of your AI text game. AI can inspire you to create awesome stuff.
Your world is the AI Text game playground. Describe it in your prompt. For example, “The planet is in ruins, with shadows lurking around.” GPT will expand on this, creating a vivid setting for your game.
Think about the world’s history, geography, and the atmosphere. For instance, “The planet is shrouded in perpetual twilight, with towering ruins casting long shadows over dunes. Vines creep along the sand, and distant howls echo through the empty fields.”
The world is a vital part of creating an immersive AI text game.
Detailed descriptions help the AI generate more vivid and immersive settings. The more intricate your world, the more engaging your game will be. This draws players deeper into the narrative.
The environment sets the tone. Plus, it affects your whole experience. And it depends entirely on you! That’s one of the biggest perks of AI. It’s almost endlessly adaptable. You get to jump between worlds at will. For example, you can instantly change the world in my prompt. Just place the village on a different planet.
